Regenerative Agricultural Intern
Overview
Longroots Ranch raises 100% grass-fed lamb and heritage Berkshire pork using regenerative grazing practices that improve soil health, ecosystem function, and climate resilience.

About the Role
This position is specifically designed as a learning opportunity for a student, recent graduate, or beginning farmer or rancher who is interested in regenerative agriculture, livestock production, and land stewardship. The intern will work alongside us, the ranch owners, and contribute meaningfully to the functioning of a working livestock operation.

Location: Longmont, CO

Pay: $20/hour

Schedule: 1–3 days per week, determined on individual basis

Time frame: starting ASAP through June 2026
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary and adapted for learning, including:
-
Assisting with daily livestock checks and animal care
-
Moving sheep and pigs between grazing paddocks
-
Installing and maintaining electric fencing systems
-
Setting up and monitoring livestock water systems
-
Assisting with feeding, mineral supplementation, and animal health
-
Supporting pasture management and land stewardship activities
-
Performing ranch maintenance and infrastructure projects
-
Assisting with equipment upkeep and organization
-
Working alongside and with livestock guardian dogs
Skills & Experience
Required:
-
Strong interest in regenerative agriculture, livestock, or sustainable food systems
-
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
-
Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs
-
Reliable transportation to the ranch in Longmont, Colorado

Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated

Part-Time Ranch Hand

About the Role
Longroots Ranch is seeking a reliable, part-time Ranch Hand to support daily livestock care, grazing management, and general ranch operations. This position is intended for someone ready to contribute meaningfully to the daily function of a working regenerative livestock operation. It's hands-on and physical, involving direct work with livestock, fencing systems, equipment, and land management.

Pay: $22/hour

Schedule: 10-30 hours per week
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary seasonally and may include:

Daily livestock checks, including monitoring health, behavior, and water access

Moving sheep and pigs between grazing paddocks using electric fencing systems
-
Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electric fencing
-
Setting up and maintaining livestock water systems
-
Assisting with feeding, mineral supplementation, and animal handling
-
Supporting pasture management and grazing rotations
-
Operating and maintaining ranch tools and equipment
-
Coordinating animal grazing at off-ranch sites, including solar arrays
Skills & Experience

Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs
