Colorado Wool Pellets
Regenerative Wool Pellets from Longroots Ranch
We offer wool pellets in Boulder County made from our flock's wool and milled right here in Colorado.
These regenerative wool pellets are for backyard gardeners who care about where their food comes from—and want a simple, natural way to improve soil health and water retention.
Gardening in Boulder County comes with its challenges.
Why Gardeners Use Wool Pellets
Water is limited. Soil dries out quickly. And many fertilizers either wash away fast or don’t align with your values.
You might be:
-
Watering constantly and still seeing dry soil
-
Watching moisture disappear after a hot afternoon
-
Unsure which soil amendments actually work long-term
-
Trying to avoid synthetic fertilizers or imported products
You’re putting in the effort to grow your own food—but the soil isn’t always working with you.

How Wool Pellets Improve Soil and Water Retention
Our wool pellets in Boulder County are designed to help your soil hold onto what it needs: water and nutrients.
Made from wool grown on our sheep and processed at a veteran-owned and operated mill in Colorado, these pellets are a truly local soil amendment.
Wool naturally acts like a sponge—absorbing moisture and releasing it slowly over time. In a dry climate like ours, that makes a real difference.
Using wool pellets in your garden can help you:
-
Retain more water in your soil, especially important this year
-
Build healthier soil over time with improved structure and microbial activity
-
Feed plants naturally with slow nutrient release
-
Garden more sustainably by replacing synethic fertilizers
-
Support a local mineral cycle!

Our Process
At Longroots Ranch, we’re a family-run ranch in Boulder County using holistic, regenerative practices to raise livestock while restoring soil health. Wool pellets are one small way we return nutrients back to the soil.
1. Sheep grow wool
Raised on pasture using regenerative grazing practices in Boulder County
2. Wool is collected during shearing
Each spring, we gather wool directly from shearing day at the ranch
3. Wool is turned into pellets at the mill
Transported to New Liberty Wool Pellet Mill in Mack, CO
4. Pellets return to the Front Range
Ready to go back into the soil—closing the loop locally
